As always when the month of December arrives, the Hogar Santa Rita Rita de Cascia of Proyecto Unión is filled with gifts, joy and mainly with valuable visits, such as the one made by Dr. Javier Valero, a medical volunteer angel, specialist in paediatric neurology who travels to Colombia every year from the United States and dedicates his time to the care of children.
There are many children in this home who need this type of attention due to their health conditions, on this occasion Ana, a little 6 year old girl who suffers from neurological problems and convulsions was his first patient. She arrived very shy, but smiling, hand in hand with the professional Angie Leany Herrera, and very quickly the charisma and affection of Dr. Valero turned Ana’s shyness into confidence.
Telemedicine has been a fundamental tool for this volunteer doctor in the world as with his commitment and heart he has been transforming the lives of children in his native country, not only with care but with the donation of an electroencephalograph, as well as the training of the nursing staff of this home.
