Once the diagnostics and the development of the Inter-semester practices of physiotherapy of the UMB in the Hogar Santa Rita de Cascia, the students along with the teacher Katherine Lopez began to build a positioning chair for children as a final project.
“This model was chosen due to the need that was seen of children with neurological problems who keep lying down most of the time and in their condition, many times it is not the most advisable, being in other positions we can work postural and cephalic control, it also facilitates their feeding, most of the problems of reflux in sedentary could be improved,” said the teacher Katherine.
In addition to these important benefits, the seated systems allow them to participate in other activities, helping them to integrate. Every day the bonds of friendship are strengthened between the beneficiary children and the students, who have demonstrated their social commitment and professionalism, achieving important advances with their patients. On the other hand, this group delivered stabilizing splints for feet.
Thanks to these valuable contributions, UMB physiotherapy students continue to contribute to improving the quality of life of children.
