Juan David, Stevan, Santiago and Jose Alejandro are four young “Javerianos” doctors who have recently graduated, with many expectations about their future, but above all with a vocation to serve. They arrived three months ago at the Santa Rita de Cascia Home of the Fundación Proyecto Unión, with the sole aim of contributing their knowledge to the health and well-being of 63 children with highly complex diseases.
While making a decision about the future of their careers, they came together to visit the home twice a week and check all the children who require special care, following the criteria of Dr. Fernando Quintero MD, Director of the Foundation and Nursing Area. This process has served them a lot to learn and to interact with the children, they have already learned almost all the names and each day they strengthen their bonds of trust and friendship with their young patients.
This group of professional volunteer angels are an example to follow, committed to the cause, always arrive early to review medical records, meet to diagnose and discuss each individual case, supporting a great need such as health care for our children. Their vocation of service was not only to choose a medical career, but they decided to put their desire to help into action, donating their time, their knowledge and being part of that great team of volunteers who want to transform the realities of our country.
