In order to strengthen the quality of life of children and provide a practice scenario to develop human potential, in terms of professional competence and service to society, for a decade the Union Project Foundation has been strengthening practice agreements with major universities and institutes of higher education in the capital.<\/p>\n
When the month of June begins, some internship cycles come to an end, for example, in this opportunity those of the Corporaci\u00f3n Iberoamericana, Universidad Manuela Beltr\u00e1n and U. del Bosque, among others. During this closing, it has been possible to see firsthand the importance for our organization of having these agreements, but beyond that, with the high quality of the professionals, who fulfill the mission of teaching and lead these practices.<\/p>\n
Each team of students from health areas such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, cardiorespiratory therapy, dentistry and psychology, among others, makes a diagnosis that allows prioritizing the development of projects with an added value in the lives of the children of Hogar Santa Rita de Cascia. Among the research projects delivered, it is worth mentioning all those that transformed the lives of children, such as the possibility of changing the gastric tube feeding to oral feeding, the closure of the trachea to achieve normal breathing and the use of innovative elements to improve communication, among others, thanks to an interdisciplinary work led by the specialties of cardiorespiratory therapy of the UMB and speech therapy of the Iberoamerican.<\/p>\n
The physiotherapy area received a support chair for neuropediatric patients that favors communication processes and the way they receive their food from the UMB. In addition to this, the children received the extensors that allow greater mobility in their hands and serve as protection to prevent self-injury. For their part, the students of the Iberoamericana delivered weights to strengthen the processes and training for walking, as well as new immobilizers that allow greater comfort and safety for our children.<\/p>\n
To complement these valuable contributions, the practice team in the area of dentistry and pediatric dentistry of the U. del Bosque conducted important hygiene workshops that achieved important changes in the oral health of children, as well as training and delivery of personalized protocols through the QR code, strengthening the processes of oral hygiene. In addition, a donation of products to protect and maintain oral health was delivered.<\/p>\n
